story
Warsame Khan was born into a respectable family. He has two younger sisters, but they don’t live with him during the events of this story—he lives alone now. As a kid, he adored his mother and father, and cared deeply for his sisters and the few close friends he had.
Despite having a loving family, Warsame struggled at school. He was bullied in elementary school—picked on by classmates more out of cruelty than violence. His parents raised concerns with the teachers, and everything changed when he met Lefteris. That friendship was a turning point: suddenly the teasing stopped, and he found someone who stood up for him.
When Warsame was very young, he suffered a neck injury while swimming. It was serious enough that he wore a supportive brace—a prosthetic collar—for a while. It never fully healed, though: even after the brace was removed, it reminded him how fragile life can be.
After that injury, Warsame developed strong goals. Influenced by his father, who worked at a well‑off company, he dreamed of becoming a teacher or a journalist—professions that required intelligence and compassion. He poured himself into his studies, determined to build a life that was stable and meaningful.
In elementary school, Lefteris saw Warsame at his lowest—alone, targeted by bullies—and didn’t hesitate. He confronted them, defended Warsame, and stood by him even in silence. That act created an unbreakable bond. They became inseparable, best friends through and through.
Then everything changed when Lefteris left town for university. No matter how many messages Warsame sent, he never got a reply. It felt like a betrayal. Lefteris moved on with his life, and that left a wound that never quite healed.
That’s when the story starts.
